DDL replication is one of the most requested features from users for a long time. While the community agrees on its necessity, the implementation has stalled primarily due to the complexity and maintenance burden of DDL deparsing -- the essential component required to reconstruct SQL from internal representations.
In this talk, I'll discuss the specific technical hurdles that blocked previous attempts and a concrete strategy to implement DDL deparsing and replication without imposing an unsustainable maintenance burden on the core team. This is not just a proposal; it is a path forward to deliver the feature users have been waiting for.
