Gregory Burd is a software engineer with over 30 years of experience in database systems, storage architecture, and infrastructure engineering. Currently serving as a Principal Software Engineer at Amazon Web Services on the PostgreSQL Community Team (PGCT) where he has been focused on performance optimization and platform ports.

Throughout his career, Gregory has made significant impact across industry-leading organizations, including NeXT Computer, Sun Microsystems, Oracle, Akamai Technologies (Labs team), Symas (OpenLDAP), Sleepycat (Berkeley DB), CrowdStrike (Falcon, was Humio), and Basho Technologies (Riak). He has contributed to many open-source projects programming in C, Rust, Python, Java, Elixir, Erlang, and more. His contributions to the database field have been recognized by the 2020 ACM/SIGMOD Systems Award for advances in data storage systems for work on Berkeley DB. He received the Wizards award within Akamai in 2015 for scaling DANE/DNSSEC to the global Akamai network.

Gregory is passionate about database internals, local and distributed data storage, and the challenges of open-source development making him a perfect fit for the Postgres community.
