I'm a Software Engineer at Supabase working on Multigres, an ambitious project to bring Vitess-style scaling capabilities to PostgreSQL. Previously, I was at PlanetScale where I was a maintainer of Vitess, the cloud-native, open-source database system that powers scalable MySQL deployments at some of the world's largest companies.
I'm focused on building distributed database infrastructure that makes PostgreSQL scale seamlessly from single instances to thousands of nodes. I'm passionate about solving complex infrastructure problems and creating reliable systems that simplify life for developers. My work spans distributed systems architecture, database scaling solutions, and developer tooling.
Some of my key contributions from my time at PlanetScale include leading the development of VTOrc, Vitess's high-availability component for automated failover and recovery; adding foreign key constraint support and atomic distributed transactions across shards; and building tooling to automate cherry-picks between Vitess's open-source and enterprise repositories to streamline code syncing and reduce overhead.
